Major Project 2 - Discourse Community

Final Draft

Letter to a future student (3).pdf

Reflection

Personal Growth

Writing this letter highlighted the importance of breaking up my writing process into stages. For example, using insights from Lamott's "Shitty First Drafts" in my first assignment helped me embrace imperfection in my early drafts. In the same way, peer feedback provided me direction when writing, ensuring that my writing was not just personal, but still meaningful to potential readers. Overall, this process showed me that writing is dynamic and collaborative, even if the concept seems deeply individual and personal.

Lessons for Future Writers

Reflecting on my various projects, I recognized how useful a reflection of the cousework would be for incomming students. Drafting served as a foundation for my assignments, allowing my thoughts to flow onto the page without judgment. Then, Peer review opens perspectives into my wirintg, revealing gaps in my logic, or opportunities for improvement. Student's who are entering ENC 1102 can use steps like these to make not just assignments, but writing in general easier. This is something that the students are bound to find out in the class regardless, but I believe coming in with the right mindset couldn't hurt.
